New in our download section is ORB Studio 7 - an open source product developed by Michio Shimada of IONA Technologies.
ORB Studio 7 is a plug-in for Eclipse which allows you to quickly develop CORBA clients and servers directly from your Eclipse development environment.
It includes the following features
CORBA IDL Editor - Supports IDL syntax highlighting
IDL Wizard- Auto-generate an IDL template with IDL wizard
IDL Compiler - Manage stub/skeltons under an Eclipse project
CORBA Client and server development wizards - Auto-generate a CORBA Cilents and servers from IDL
Active Object Map activate/de-activate objects on the server side
Servant Activator ServantActivator creates a servant automatically for a CORBA
Servant Locator Supports auto-generation of servant locator based CORBA server implementation.
ORB Studio 7 supports various CORBA implementations, IONA Orbix, Borland VisiBroker, JavaIDL, OpenORB, and JacORB.

I’m not able to use this plugin.
I received the folowing errormessage when I click on the menu item ORB studio in th Eclipse’s preferences:
Unable to create the selected preference page
Reason:
Plug-in ORBStudio was unable to load class org.orbstudio.preferences.OrbSupportPreferencePage.
I tried it with the following stable eclipse versions:
eclipse-SDK-3.2.1-win32.zip
eclipse-SDK-3.1.2-win32.zip
eclipse-SDK-3.0.2-win32(2).zip
Can yo uadvice something?

I am trying to install the ObStudio plugin. I need a little more detail in the instructions. For example, The installation instructions say, “Import entire source package from Eclipse 3.x.” I know how to import code into Eclipse. Is this imported as a new Java projected named ORBStudio? Also, after several attempts, I am seeing the “Plug-in ORBStudio was unable to load class … OrbSupportPreferencePage”, as in an earlier post. Any advice or link to instructions would be appreciated. Thanks much.

ORBStudio plugin depends on Java 5 so please make use of it in Eclipse running on Java 5, not Java 1.4.X.

I meant Import the ORBStudio source code into Eclipse from the files. If you would build/generate your own ORBStudio, you can take advantage of Import Wizard in Eclipse.
[File] -> [Import] -> Genral node [Existing Projects into Workspace]

Hi,
when I developed a Corba factor.idl, every step I selected the default setting, it would succed; however, if i edited another factory idl, and i choose new–>other–>corba wizard–>Server, then, after i selected the idl file, the interface is gray, that is, it has nothing but can’t be chosen.
Could you please tell me, why? If you can give me details, I would appreciate it.
